Dog grooming in PJ and Subang: prices
What a bath, basic groom, full shave, scissor and shave or full scissor includes, what each costs by weight, and what adds to the bill. For dog owners in Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya.

Dog grooming prices in Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya depend on two things: your dog's weight and the service. At Pets Grooming Hotel (PGH) in USJ 21, a 5 to 8 kg dog, such as a Shih Tzu or a Maltese, pays RM45 for a bath, RM80 for a basic groom, RM120 for a full shave, RM130 to RM160 for a scissor and shave, and RM200 for a full scissor style. A bath is a wash and dry. A basic groom adds nails, ears, a sanitary and paw-pad tidy, and a face and feet tidy. A full shave takes the body down with clippers. Scissor and shave clips the body and hand-scissors the head, or the head and legs. A full scissor is cut by hand all over, so it costs the most. Matting, a double coat and a dog that needs breaks add to the bill. PGH is about 15 minutes from Paradigm Mall without traffic.

What adds to the price?
- Matting. Dematting is RM15 to RM150, depending on how much there is. A heavily matted coat usually needs a shave for the dog's comfort.
- Double coats. Huskies, golden retrievers, Pomeranians and similar coats add RM30 to RM50.
- Deshedding. RM20 to RM80 to remove loose undercoat.
- Behaviour. A dog that needs breaks takes longer. Tell us when you book.
- Extras. Tooth brushing RM10 to RM15, poodle feet RM20, a Director cut or an intensive wash from RM50 for small dogs.
Your groomer checks the coat at drop-off and confirms the price before starting.
How often should I book?
If your dog's coat keeps growing, as with Poodles, Shih Tzus and Malteses, book a full groom every 4 to 6 weeks. If it sheds, as with Beagles, Corgis and Huskies, book every 6 to 8 weeks. Nails usually need attention every 3 to 4 weeks whatever the coat. Brushing at home between visits keeps matting, and the cost of dematting, down. - Why does a full scissor cost more than a full shave?
A full shave takes the body down with clippers. A full scissor is cut by hand over the whole body to keep length and shape, so it takes the most time and skill. For a 5 to 8 kg dog at PGH a full shave is RM120 and a full scissor RM200.
- What makes the final price higher than the list price?
Matting, a double coat, and a dog that needs breaks. At PGH dematting is RM15 to RM150, double coats add RM30 to RM50, and the groomer confirms the price before starting.
