Selangor's government vet clinics are run by the state Department of Veterinary Services (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Veterinar Negeri Selangor) through nine district offices, called PPVD. Subang Jaya, USJ, Puchong and Petaling Jaya fall under PPVD Petaling, at Jalan PJU 10/1E, Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya, tel 03-6140 2979. Klang residents use PPVD Klang in Port Klang, and Kajang and Cheras Selangor use PPVD Hulu Langat in Kajang. These clinics offer basic treatment, vaccination and neutering for cats and dogs at subsidised rates. A theSun price check found government clinics charged RM40 to RM65 for a core combination vaccine, RM30 to neuter a cat and RM70 for a dog, and gave rabies vaccination free. The same check found private clinics charged RM50 to RM200 per vaccine dose and up to RM150 for a cat neuter. Government offices keep weekday hours and services differ by district, so phone before you go.
Prices and services change. Use this guide to find the right office, then confirm the day's clinic hours, fees and whether you need a booking by phone. This is general information, not veterinary advice.

What services do they offer for pets?
The Selangor district offices list these clinic services for pets ("haiwan kesayangan"), though not every office offers all of them:
- Basic treatment and advice for cats and dogs.
- Vaccination, including rabies.
- Neutering and spaying (pemandulan). PPVD Klang and PPVD Kuala Langat list it. Ask your district office whether it does surgery and how to book.
- Microchipping and pet passports, needed if you plan to take your pet abroad.
- Permits for moving animals between states or out of the country.
- Animal welfare complaints, such as neglect or cruelty.
The same offices also serve farms and livestock, so the pet clinic is one counter among several. Expect to wait.
Should I use a government or private vet?
Use a government clinic for routine, planned jobs: vaccination, rabies shots, neutering, microchips and travel paperwork. The savings are real, especially for a new kitten or puppy or for a rescue with several animals.
Use a private clinic when your pet is sick or hurt, when you need a weekend or evening visit, or when the problem needs tests, X-rays or surgery beyond neutering. Many owners in Subang Jaya do both: routine jobs at the government clinic, illness at a private vet they know.
What should I bring to a government vet clinic?
- Your pet in a secure carrier or on a short lead. Waiting areas can be busy, and farm animals may be nearby.
- The vaccination card or book, and any past treatment records.
- Your identity card, for registration.
- Cash, in case cards or e-wallets are not accepted.
- For neutering, ask by phone about fasting before surgery and when to collect.
Keep the itemised receipt. Under the Budget 2027 proposal, vaccination and sterilisation by a registered vet count toward the RM2,500 lifestyle tax relief: see our Budget 2027 pet tax relief guide.
Does PGH need my pet's vaccination record?
Yes, for the pet hotel. PGH accepts any combination vaccine, from a government or private clinic, and a photo of the vaccination record is enough at check-in. Flea, tick and mite prevention is also compulsory: see our cat flea guide. Rooms and rates are on the dog hotel and cat hotel pages. PGH is in USJ 21, Subang Jaya: how to get here.
